One May 1st, Osama bin Laden was killed by US special forces in a compound in Pakistan which was 60 miles from the capital. Osama bin Laden is thought to be behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York when two planes were flown into the World Trade Center. Ever since then, the US have gone looking for him. They started a war against an organization called the Taliban in Afganistan. On Sunday, US special forces surrounded the house and then soldiers raided the compound in which bin Laden was staying at. There was a 40 minute shoot-out and then Osama was shot just above his left eye. He was later buried at sea.
President Obama watched the raid in his office with all the most important politicians. The Americans say that they killed bin Laden because he wouldn't surrender. The Taliban have demanded proof of bin Laden's death but Obama says he won't release any pictures of the dead body.
We are to expect a retaliation from Al-Qaeda and the Taliban have said that they will have revenge.
