Arthur Christmas (U)
This film isn't like the Polar Express or Elf. It modernises Christmas.
Santa delivers the presents in a spaceship and the traditional sleigh is kept in a shed described as an "old relic".
When Santa returns in the small hours of Christmas Day, after his big journey giving gifts, an elf discovers a present that has been missed, left at the North Pole. It is up to Arthur, Santa's youngest son, to deliver this present in the old sleigh before the child wakes up.
I have to say, it was better than I thought it would be. It had some funny scenes but also was very adventure-filled. The funniest character was Grandpa Santa who was mad because of his old age. In fact, the whole film was full of mad ideas. Good but mad.

The Collingwood (CLOSED)
Atmosphere
This is a very posh place, I couldn't tell whether it was a pub or a restaurant. This place is lovely and has a great atmosphere.
Code
The rules in this place are very strict:

-No nudity
Starter
For my starter I had beautiful garlic bread. It was by far the best quality garlic bread I've had in my life! There was a perfect amount of butter on the bread.
Main Course
For my main course I had bangers and mash with gravy. The sausage was just right with a lovely texture to it. The gravy was gorgeous with a really smooth feeling to it. The mash had no bits in it. It's the best mash that I've ever had!
Dessert
My dessert was chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and popcorn. The brownie was amazing. I had to eat my dessert very slowly, it was that good. There was nothing that great about the ice cream. The ice cream tasted just like what you'd expect from the shops. The popcorn actually worked with the ice cream and chocolate brownie. I didn't expect the popcorn to go that well with the rest of the dessert.
Service
The service was good. The waiter kept asking me if I wanted another drink. The food came quicker than you'd expect.

100th Anniversary of the Royal Liver Building
This week marked the 100th anniversary of the Royal Liver Building. It has been one of Liverpool's most 'sound' weeks of the century!
First, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra played on a huge stage at the Pier Head. It was one of the best concerts that I've been to by the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Looking up at the tower while listening to the music makes you feel like you're in a world of magic.
Finally the light display came. It showed the history of Liverpool in an animated video on the Liver Building. I think it was more exciting than when La Machine came to Liverpool for Capital of Culture in 2008.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Harry Potter has become a huge part of my childhood and I am happy, and a little emotional, about it being the last one. I got to the cinema as soon as I could. It was funny, exciting and action-packed. It is by far the best film that I've seen in the whole of my life. Even better than Toy Story 3!
Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) sets off with his two best friends, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) to find Lord Voldermort's (Ralph Fiennes) Horcruxes. If they don't destroy all of the Horcruxes, Voldermort cannot die.
Hogwarts has been taken over by Death Eaters who make the students torture first-year pupils with the Cruciatus Curse. Harry returns to Hogwarts and meets his friends there. Together they try all they can to protect the castle, and Harry and Voldermort have their final battle.
A lot of characters die in this film and there are quite a few scary scenes. This is the goriest of the Harry Potter series. I recommend that only mature eight year-olds and over watch this.

The Last Supper
2nd July 2011, a sad day for Liverpool. The beloved Everyman Bistro will close forever to make way for a new theatre.
I've only been to the Everyman Bistro a few times but those few times are very special and will stay in my head for the rest of my life. The music, the food and of course the wonderful atmosphere! My last ever visit to the bistro was on July 1st. The night before it closed. My last meal there was Mediterranean sausage pasta followed by a gorgeous chocolate tart.
To me, and to probably lots of people, it's like losing a friend. Angie Sammons, editor of Liverpool Confidential says: "The loss of the Everyman Bistro, many people believe, is a social and cultural disaster for the city."
We will all miss the Everyman.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 On Stranger Tides
I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4 on Saturday at the Crosby Plaza Community Cinema. It was very funny at parts and sometimes quite scary. My heart was pounding at one time and at some point I'd be splitting my sides. I don't think this is the best of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series but it was good and I do advise you to watch it if you're planning a trip to the cinema. There is a very scary scene with killer mermaids in.

Toy Story 3 the video game
Toy Story 3 the video game is one of the best video games I have played. It's as good as the movie. When I'm bored, I turn on my games console and play on this. When I'm watching my brother play on it, I feel like taking the remote off him and playing on it.
Everyone who knows what a good video game is will want to play this. It's funny and full of adventure.
Rating: 7+ for violence.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 the video game
From the very start of this game, there was violence, shootings and killing. Voldemort is trying all he can to capture or kill Harry and death eaters are everywhere. On the streets, in the forests and even in your homes.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 the videogame is overall, very good. The only annoying part is that there are Death Eaters everywhere. In other words, it's not easy to play.
Rating: 12+ for violence and bad language.

Malmaison, Liverpool
My starter was a carrot and corriander soup. It was very nice and creamy. For my main meal, I had roast beef and yorkshire puddings. The gravy was delicious. The beef was very tender. My mum had a lovely roast gammon. The roast potatoes where okay but could have been better. My brother had a hamburger. It was massive but very nice. He didn't get all the way through his meal because there was too much on his plate. This was what was left over:
I recommend the Malmaison.

Ruffts
On Saturday 12th March there was a dog show called Ruffts in Potters Barn, Crosby. There was a dog display, first. This included jumping through hoops of fire, attacking a man who is pretending to rob someone's handbag and saving toy puppies from a burning, plastic castle. Next, was a competition which contained different categories including: Lookey-likey, worst and best behaved dogs and waggiest-tail. My dog won the prize for waggiest-tail. He was (in my opinion) very good a worst behaved dog aswell. Here's a picture of the dog with the waggiest-tail:

Tangled (PG)
On Wednesday 16th February, I went to watch Tangled which is Disney's 50th animated film. It's a funny, emotional, nail-biting adventure which is highly recommended. It's about a girl and a thief who go to see the lanterns for the lost princess. This girl doesn't know that herself is that lost princess. This adventure involves fighting, deaths, romance and a horse. Almost every part that involved the horse had some comedy to it. In one scene, the horse acts like a dog and gets called, “good boy” several times.
I think Tangled is not appropriate for children under seven years old. There's a lot of head butting, one stunt were the horse jumps from one building to another. The film also involves peril.
Get tickets cheap on Wednesdays at the Crosby Plaza community cinema for £2.60 each.
